Formstable big bags (Q-bags)
Use formstable FIBC to save space in transport and storage. Internal baffles keep the bag square when it is filled, so it stacks stable and stays within the pallet.

Quick facts
- Keeps a square shape when filled
- Up to 25% space saving in transport and storage
- Standard baffle fabric 100+30 g/m² with flow holes
- Combinable with Type C, inliner (Q-liner), foodclean and UN
- Typical bases 100 × 100 and 110 × 110 cm
A formstable big bag, also called a Q-bag or baffle bag, is an FIBC with internal diagonal panels (baffles) sewn across the four corners. The baffles keep the bag square when it is filled, so it does not bulge, stands stable on pallets and in racks and uses up to 25% less space in trucks, containers and warehouses than a standard big bag of the same capacity. DIV Trades makes formstable big bags in Serbia for milk powder, plastic granules, chemical powders and any other bulk product where space and stability matter.
Advantages of formstable FIBC
- Q-bags stay inside the borders of the pallet, so palletized loads do not overhang.
- Easier to store: they stand better in racks and stack more stably than standard bags.
- Up to 25% less storage space for the same quantity of product.
- Up to 25% more economical road and rail transport compared with standard big bags.
- Suitable for any bulk material, including milk powder, granules and powders from the chemical industry.
How a Q-bag is constructed
Baffles made from polypropylene fabric are sewn across the four corners of the bag body. The baffles have evenly distributed holes so the product flows freely into the corners during filling and out again during discharging. A second construction uses a single baffle sewn across the middle of the bag, which keeps the rectangular shape in a similar way.
A filled standard big bag grows about 25 cm in diameter; a filled Q-bag grows only about 10-15 cm. For dusty materials the baffles can be sewn with one, two or three sealing strips, exactly like the body seams. Q-bags are available in any dimension the customer specifies.
Types of baffles

Standard baffle
Made from PP fabric of 100+30 g/m² with evenly distributed holes that let the product flow during filling and discharging. Used in 95% of all formstable FIBC.

Net baffle
Woven from PP tapes as an open net, which allows an equal flow of material into all four corners of the bag.

Which bag types can be combined with a Q-bag
Formstable construction can be combined with almost every other big bag type, so one bag can be formstable, conductive, food grade and UN approved at the same time.
- Type C conductive Q-bags for flammable powders.
- Q-liner: a PE liner with its own baffles, so the big bag with inliner is also formstable.
- Bag in bag: a Q-bag inside a normal big bag reaches a similar dustproof level to a lined bag without the cost of a Q-liner; see dustproof and sewing.
- UN Q-bags for dangerous goods.
- Foodclean Q-bags for milk powder, sugar and starch.
- Not possible: one- and two-loop bags, because their tubular body cannot take baffles.
Dimensions of formstable big bags
Because a Q-bag keeps its square footprint, its base can be chosen slightly larger than that of a standard bag for the same truck load. Q-bags optimized for a Europallet of 80 × 120 cm are also common.
| Base (external) | Load per bag | Bags per truck | Total per truck |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 × 100 cm | 1,000 kg | 24 | 24 t |
| 110 × 110 cm | 1,200 or 1,250 kg | 20 | 24 or 25 t |
Inlet, outlet, loops and other specifications
Formstable big bags take every inlet and outlet DIV Trades offers: inlet spout, skirt, open top, outlet spout, flat bottom and more. See filling options, discharging options and lifting options, or start from the standard big bag and add baffles.

What is a Q-bag?
Q-bag is another name for a formstable or baffle big bag: an FIBC with internal panels sewn across the corners that hold the bag in a square shape when it is filled.
How much space does a formstable big bag save?
Up to 25% in storage and in road or rail transport compared with a standard big bag of the same capacity, because the filled bag does not bulge beyond its footprint.
Do the baffles block the flow of material?
No. Standard baffles have evenly distributed holes and net baffles are an open PP net, so the product flows freely into and out of the corners.
Can a Q-bag have an inliner?
Yes. Either a loose or fixed liner inside the baffle bag, or a Q-liner, which is a PE liner with its own baffles. A bag-in-bag construction is a cheaper way to reach a similar dustproof level.
Can a formstable big bag also be Type C or UN certified?
Yes. DIV Trades produces formstable bags as Type C conductive bags, as UN bags for dangerous goods and as foodclean bags, in any combination.
