Big bags for your industry

Sugar big bags must meet the highest food safety requirements. They are usually designed as standard four-loop big bags with dustproof sewing and have a filling spout on top and a discharge spout at the bottom. Crystal sugar is typically packed with one sealing strip, which keeps the crystals inside the bag and the moisture out.

DIV Trades produces around 800,000 FIBC a year for the sugar industry, which makes sugar our single largest application. Our foodclean big bags are made in plants certified to HACCP and ISO 22000:2018, with fabric and bags that comply with Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and 10/2011 for food contact.

Like sugar bags, milk powder big bags have to satisfy strict quality and food safety requirements. Because milk powder is very fine, the seams are sewn with the highest dustproof level, typically three sealing strips. This protects the powder from leakage and from moisture during storage and transport.

Besides sugar and milk powder, a wide range of food products is filled into big bags. Each one needs a different sealing level, which we choose according to the grain size of the product.

Some foods such as flour or starch can form explosive dust, so a conductive Type C big bag may be required for safe filling and discharging. Starch and flour packaging also has high food safety requirements, which our foodclean big bags are designed for. Salt FIBC often have lower requirements because the salt is not always used in the food industry.

Big bags for seeds are increasingly popular because they are easy to handle for farmers and seed dealers. Seed FIBC can be designed as standard four-loop bags, formstable Q-bags or one- or two-loop bags.

Formstable big bags are especially popular for seeds. Seeds are usually stored over winter, and storage space is critical for many producers, so a bag that keeps its square shape when full stacks more densely. Seed bags are often printed with the company logo for marketing purposes.

The fertilizer industry mostly uses one- or two-loop big bags because they are easy to handle for its agricultural customers. The safe working load of these FIBC is often only around 500 kg. A PE inliner is inserted so the fertilizer does not leak and does not get wet.

Fertilizer packaging usually carries a company logo print, which supports the marketing of the fertilizer. DIV Trades supplies all types of fertilizer big bags, from single-loop bags to printed four-loop bags with inliner.

Animal feed is often filled into big bags because the quantities are large and the bags are quick to fill and empty. Feed FIBC are either designed as standard four-loop big bags or as one- or two-loop big bags, and they often include a company print. They are mostly made from uncoated fabric, which is the most economical choice for a coarse, free-flowing product.

Chemicals have a wide range of characteristics and an equally wide range of big bags exists to suit them. Typical designs for the chemical industry are formstable Q-bags for stable pallet loads, big bags with PE inliner for hygroscopic or fine products, and antistatic Type C bags for products that can ignite or are handled in explosive atmospheres.

The chemical industry often asks for the highest quality because the value of the packed product is high. DIV Trades supplies many large international corporations with chemical big bags and can also produce UN certified bags for dangerous goods.

Carbon black is extremely light and bulky, so carbon black big bags are more than two meters high and designed to carry around 2 cubic meters of product. They are built as formstable big bags so the tall bag stays square and stable on the pallet.

We weave black uncoated fabric especially for our carbon black customers, so the bag color matches the product and the fabric does not show contamination. This is a good example of how we develop the right FIBC for each customer instead of selling a generic bag.

Big bags for pharmaceuticals and their raw materials have the highest requirements on food safety and quality control. They are produced on our foodclean line, where bags never touch the floor, thread ends are heat cut and every finished bag is inspected on a light table and passed through a metal detector.

Big bags are widely used to pack recycled resources, especially recycled plastics such as regrind, flakes and granules. Recycling materials are packed either in standard big bags or in Q-bags, which stack better on the truck.

Fabric for the recycling industry is sometimes coated to keep out moisture and fine particles, and the bags often carry a print. These FIBC come in various designs regarding lifting, filling and discharging, from open top and closed bottom to spouts on both ends.

Cement big bags are usually designed as single- or double-loop FIBC, which are quick to fill and easy to lift with a crane or a forklift hook. An inliner is crucial for cement big bags, because moisture would destroy the cement; see our big bags with inliners. A company logo is often printed on the body of the bag.

Various construction materials such as sand, gravel or stones can be packed in big bags. Construction material companies usually use standard big bags with a closed bottom and an open top, which are filled with a loader and emptied by cutting or tipping.

Sand FIBC require dustproof sewing so the fine sand does not trickle out of the seams, while for stones no dustproof sewing is used. Heavier fabric weights are available for sharp-edged material.

Raw agricultural products such as potatoes, onions, nuts or beans can be filled into big bags for storage and transport. Agricultural product big bags are often made from ventilated fabric, which allows air to circulate from the inside out and prevents the produce from sweating and rotting. In the past, flood barriers were built by hand from 25 kg sandbags. Today an increasing number of flood barriers are built from 1,000 kg big bags, which are filled by a loader and placed by an excavator or forklift in a fraction of the time.

Asbestos big bags are designed to collect asbestos-contaminated waste. Because plates and other construction waste are bulky, these big bags often have an unusual design and custom dimensions to match the size of the waste.

Asbestos big bags have a warning logo printed on the body. They can additionally be certified as UN big bags for the transport of dangerous goods.

Wood pellets are often filled into big bags for delivery to heating plants and households. These FIBC are usually relatively high because wood pellets are comparatively lightweight, so a 1,000 kg load needs a larger volume than the same weight of sugar or sand.
